Thursday we started Unit 6: Characteristics of Quadratics. Below is a picture of the notes we took and a couple of problems worked out. Friday we took notes on transformations of quadratics. The equations should be in vertex form. If the "a" value is negative, the graph is reflected over the x-axis. If the absolute value of "a" is greater than 1, it is a stretch. If the absolute value of "a" is between 0 and 1, it is a shrink. If the "h" value is positive, it is a shift right. If the "h" value is negative, it is a shift left. ** BE CAREFUL WITH THE "H" VALUE. THE "H" VALUE IS THE OPPOSITE SIGN FROM WHAT IS INSIDE THE PARENTHESIS. If the "k" value is positive, it is a shift up. If the "k" value is negative, it is a shift down.
