Friday 9/22, was our amnesty day in class. Students were given the opportunity to complete any missing assignments, tests or quizzes. All makeup work is due the Monday we return to school (10/2). Below is the info for the "school lunch" assignment.

We reviewed triangle similarity today and the three postulates to prove triangles similar: SSS, SAS and AA. We will quiz on triangle similarity on Friday. They were given an assignment to start in class and complete for homework. That assignment will help them study for Friday's quiz. Tomorrow we will be covering the Triangle Proportionality Theorem.
If you need additional practice for Friday's quiz, go to IXL.com and work on problems in the following categories: P.2 (similarity statements), P.4 (side lengths and angle measures in similar figures), P.5 (similar triangles and indirect measure), and P.7 (similarity rules for triangles) Today we wrote and solved linear equations from word problems. Key words to identify slope are: per, each, every. Look for additional key words to determine if the slope is positive or negative. Common words for indicating a negative slope are losing, spending and decreasing. Common words for indiciating a positive slope are saving, increasing, growing. After reviewing homework, we reviewed for the quiz tomorrow. Below are the answers to the quiz review. Today we finished reviewing for our Unit 2A test which will be tomorrow, 9/14. Your Unit 2A test will be very similar to your review guide. The 2 proofs on the test will be from the proof packet we did last week, so please study your proofs.
Below are the answers to #1 - 10 and #21 -39. Scroll down in my blog for the answers to problems #11 - #20. 1. alternate exterior (congruent) 2. linear pair (supplementary) 3. alternate interior (congruent) 4. vertical (congruent) 5. same side interior (supplementary) 6. alternate exterior (congruent) 7. corresponding (congruent) 8. corresponding (congruent) 9. vertical (congruent) 10. linear pair (supplementary) 21. 74 22. 72 23. 6 24. -11 25. 34 26. 68 27. 9 28. 5 29. not congruent 30. Then we took notes on functions. Our in class activity was: given a table, list of coordinates, mapping diagram or graph, determine if it is a relation or a function.
Enjoy the extra long weekend but please stay safe during this storm! Please work on your study guide. We will finish reviewing on Wednesday and will have our Unit 2A test on Thursday.
If you want extra practice to get ready for Thursday's test, go to www.IXL.com Congruent Triangles - K.1 - K.11 Parallel and Perpendicular Lines - D.1, D.3 and D.4 Intro to Triangles - F.2, and F.3 Enjoy your extra long weekend and please stay safe during the storm. Our next topic is relations vs. functions. If you want to get a head start on our next topic, there are a couple of quick videos on Khan Academy that you can watch:
How to tell when tables and mapping diagrams are a relation or function: www.khanacademy.org/math/cc-eighth-grade-math/cc-8th-linear-equations-functions/cc-8th-function-intro/v/relations-and-functions How to tell when a graph is a relation or a function: www.khanacademy.org/math/cc-eighth-grade-math/cc-8th-linear-equations-functions/cc-8th-function-intro/v/graphical-relations-and-functions You can also go to the www.IXL.com and under the Algebra I tab, try problems in Q.4 and Q.5. Today we completed the proof packet (with the 14 mini proofs). Two of those proofs will be on your Unit 2A test on Tuesday next week. We reviewed the triangle congruency homework and how to write congruency statements. We started the Unit 2A Test Review packet. In class, we completed the odds from #1 - 21. Homework is to complete #1 - 20 all, and #29 - 37 all. Set up the equations for problems #11 - 20. If you have time, then also solve them. The answers are below. We will finish reviewing on Monday and will take the Unit 2A test on Tuesday, 9/12. PLEASE, study over the weekend!
Answers for #11 - 20 11. 7 12. 10 13. 8 14. 7 15. 5 16. 10 17. 25 18. 133 19. 12 20. 6 We took the Unit 3 test today. If you were absent yesterday, attached is the "Almost There" Unit 3 Study Guide. Our warm up in class today was reviewing how to write congruency statements. Today in class we reviewed triangle congruence proofs and CPCTC. For homework, make sure you finish your proof packet. We reviewed almost all of them during class today. Fix and/or complete your congruency statement warm up that I handed back in class today.
It is very important that you keep up with the classwork and homework as we prepare for our next Unit Test on Tuesday, 9/12. You will receive the Unit 2A review packet in class tomorrow and we will begin the test review during class. |
